All operational processes handled in the companies transport network, such as collection, cross docking and delivery, have to be planned, handled and documented in one system.
This is the only way to ensure that the exact whereabouts of a shipment can be tracked reliably and quickly at any time within the transport chain.
The operative TMS software cadis covers exactly these requirements. Using mobile handheld devices the collection, delivery, unloading, temporary storage, sorting and loading processes are recorded electronically. By scanning barcodes with location information (e. g. cold storage compartment 1) all changes of location are comprehensively documented.
In parallel to the cadis software, the temperature data from the temperature loggers are collected in the ORBCOMM web portal (www.orbcomm.com). Trusted and proven Euroscan X3 devices provide the temperature data from the vehicles, while MX-2 devices are used for warehouses and distribution centres.
The temperature data is transferred from ORBCOMM to cadis via a permanent data connection.
As a package passes through the transport network cadis is continuously tracking and recording every temperature monitored storage location or vehicle compartment it is stored in and the exact time period it has spent there. Based on this information a fully automatic assignment of the temperature data to the package or shipment is carried out.
With a simple mouse click in cadis, temperature curves from all stages of the transport chain can be reviewed on shipment and package level and exported as a PDF report.
All of this is done fully automatically in seconds, without any employee having to reconstruct the shipment history from different data sources and assign it to a huge amount of temperature data.
William is already planning to make the storage condition report available to his clients on the customer portal. This will reduce the administrative effort to almost zero.
