KRATZER AUTOMATION presents new app trio at the transport logistic 2017

KRATZER AUTOMATION one of the largest suppliers of Transport Management Software in Europe, presents new mobile solutions for logistics providers. The main focus is on three applications which comprise of digital control and documentation of all processes within the depot, on the yard and on the road. All steps of the supply chain are covered. With these new applications, KRATZER AUTOMATION sees the switch from Windows mobile to Android and mobile web applications. This move introduces easy to use applications together with access to Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) solutions.

“Today, it is quite impossible to imagine everyday life and daily tasks of Logistics companies without mobile applications – they increase the efficiency and simplify all processes considerably. With its new application trio, KRATZER AUTOMATION offers transport and logistics providers a solution across the entire supply chain. It comprises all operational processes within the depot, yard and on the road”, says Samuel Denaes, Head of Product management at KRATZER AUTOMATION. With these new tools, logistics companies increase both quality and efficiency at the same time.

With the switch from Windows mobile to Android, KRATZER AUTOMATION is responding to the increasing need for flexibility and usability in logistics. “The trend toward Android, “Bring Your Own Device” and mobile web application solutions has been increasing significantly throughout the entire sector for some time. We are really pleased to address these opportunities with our own applications for road, depot and yard”, says Samuel Denaes. The specific requirements regarding IT security are taken into account whilst still maintaining our own high standards.

The new solution from KRATZER AUTOMATION comprises three modules which can be used in combination or separately:

Application for the driver: The driver application provides a broad range of functionality dedicated to the operational requirements of the business and the monitoring of live activities. The focus is of the solution is on the first and the last mile processes and line haul transportation. The delivery of status information in real-time, the documentation of damages, barcode scanning, digital signature, photo documentation, entry of loading equipment, GPS tracking and geo fencing are all part of the broad range of functions found within the application. Numerous functions contained within the driver application are also available via a web-based application which can be operated on any device that supports an internet browser.

Yard Management application: This application supports and guides different processes from arrival at the gate through to the unloading process at the ramp. Vehicles, trailers, swap bodies and containers are registered and then are ‘intelligently’ allocated to the optimal ramp, gate or park on the appropriate storage area. The use of the mobile application on the yard, ramp and transshipment depot supports the communication with yard staff and ensures rapid, efficient and reliable documented processes.

Mobile application for depot and warehouse: The easy-to-use Android application provides a comprehensive overview of the depot at any time. Status and storage areas of goods are tracked and can be viewed via the application. The mobile documentation in real-time allows for continuous control over the different processes before, during and after the loading/unloading activities together with an efficient monitoring of all cross-docking processes. With smart inventory functions, control can be handled instantly and missing or surplus goods together with the incorrect storage locations can be detected at an early stage.

KRATZER AUTOMATION AG was founded in 1980 by Gerhard Kratzer and Paul Balz as Gerhard Kratzer GmbH, Automatisierungstechnik München. From the outset the company focused on creating industrial, process-related software, in the founder years, for example, for the operations control centre of Ruhrgas AG. The automation of engine test beds at SHELL and BMW Motorsport was soon to follow.
