EUROTRANSPHARMA plans, executes and analyses its operational processes with cadis the operational TMS

Eurotranspharma is a leading French logistics provider specializing in the area of healthcare products. It has the largest European transport network that is fully dedicated to healthcare product transportation offering both express and parcel delivery for ambient and controlled temperature conditions. Eurotranspharma network covers several countries across Europe (Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Slovenia) and backed by 12 regional offices and 3 hubs and operates a fleet of 450 vehicles.

 

Since the creation of the company in 2011, Eurotranspharma has continuously been successful in a number of important areas i.e.:
 

  • By reinforcing its growth strategy first in France (internal market) and then for the European market: Performed a takeover of Ciblex in France Belgium and the Netherlands in September 2014,
  • By  investing in internal infrastructure and logistics tools: moved into a new head office in January 2015 and invested in a new TMS solution for its operational processes: cadis — the operational TMS from KRATZER AUTOMATION.

Eurotranspharma is prepared to meet the new challenges that the healthcare industry is now experiencing. The whole classic model of healthcare logistics is in a transition phase due to:
 

  • The arrival on the market of generic medical products has led to less profit for pharmaceutical wholesalers,
  • Simultaneously the product procurement problems have increased due to inefficiencies within the distribution system.

The intervention of a specialized healthcare carrier dedicated to healthcare products reflects the real needs of the market today.

 

Nevertheless, good distribution practices require the installation of a quality management system in order to ensure the successful storage and distribution of healthcare products. A solution like cadis which has been used at Ciblex since 2008 has proved itself able to fulfil such customers’ requirements. In addition, this solution was the only one on the market which could manage perfectly both express, parcel deliveries (single parcel delivery) together with freight carrier activities.

 

It was therefore logical that Eurotranspharma should choose KRATZER AUTOMATION to equip its operation with a solution that allowed them to automate the transportation process.

 

cadisMOBILE, a solution dedicated to drivers, will be deployed on Zebra MC 67 mobile devices which will manage simultaneously 500 routes per day, cadisCONTROL, the back office software, will be used at their depots by approx. 100 users i.e. dispatching team, customer service, damage service or quality control.



The expected benefits at a dispatching level are directly linked to the digitalization of processes: Route planning, tracking of events and integration of information in real time into the carriers own systems. The operational efficiency has considerably improved across many different levels i.e. planning of activities and damages processing:
 

  • Time saving due to paperless documentation : cancellation of route manifest
  • Information in real time for customer and dispatcher: cancellation of customer calls and dispatcher calls to drivers
  • Tracking in real-time of POD (proof of delivery)
  • Photo documentation of damages

Eurotranspharma is able to fulfil the requirement specifications of its most demanding customers while reducing costs. Also cadis the operational TMS now gives Eurotranspharma a comprehensive overview of all its operational activities.

 

In a second step cadis will be deployed in Eurotranspharma hubs to manage terminal handling: monitoring of arrival and departures and terminal inventories.

The project which has been started mid-September should be deployed from February 2016 onwards.

History:

KRATZER AUTOMATION AG was founded in 1980 by Gerhard Kratzer and Paul Balz as Gerhard Kratzer GmbH, Automatisierungstechnik München. From the outset the company focused on creating industrial, process-related software, in the founder years, for example, for the operations control centre of Ruhrgas AG.
